According to a press release issued by the Lagos State Judiciary, the Chief Judge of Lagos State, Justice Kazeem Olanrewaju Alogba, has approved a new allocation of courts and chambers within the Lagos Judicial Division as part of ongoing administrative adjustments.
The press release stated that all judges currently sitting in the Lagos Criminal Division at the TBS Complex—Justices Y.A. Adesanya, I.O. Harrison, S.I. Sonaike and A.T. Muyideen—have been directed to relocate to the JIC Taylor Courthouse, Igbosere, Lagos.
It further noted that Justices A.A. Oyebanji, K.O. Dawodu, O.O. Ogungbesan, E.I. Alakija and O.O. Ogunjobi, also sitting at the TBS Complex, are to move to the JIC Taylor Courthouse. The press release explained that judges moving into the Igbosere courthouse will select their courts and adjoining chambers in line with the order of precedence.
According to the statement, specific redeployments were also approved at the Osborne Foreshore Complex. Justice A.O. Opesanwo was assigned to the former court and chambers of Justice O.O. Pedro, while Justice A.A. George will take over the former court and chambers of Justice L.A. Okunnu. Justice O.O. Ojuromi was assigned to the former court and chambers of Justice R.O. Olukolu.
The press release reminded all affected judges that only personal effects and books are to be moved to the new locations, adding that all judiciary-owned furniture, equipment and fittings must be left behind. It added that inventories of such items will be taken by designated officers.
It also stated that judges affected by the relocation are to liaise with the Office of the Chief Registrar to collect allowances approved to facilitate the movement into their new courts and chambers.
The exercise, according to the press release, will commence on Friday, January 30, 2026, and is expected to be completed by Friday, February 6, 2026, after which judges are to hand over the keys to their former chambers once inventories have been concluded.
The judiciary said the exercise is aimed at ensuring better organization and effective use of court facilities within the Lagos Judicial Division.
