Fresh Tension Over Eletu-Odibo Lagos Stool

Fresh tension has emerged within the Eletu-Odibo Chieftaincy Family of Lagos after a controversial publication claimed a new leadership over the historic stool.
This morning the press was addressed by the Eletu-Odibo Chieftaincy Family distancing itself from a February 12, 2026, publication by Mr. Ajibade Ismail Nosiru Ayeni. In that publication, Ayeni reportedly claimed to be the incumbent Eletu-Odibo of Lagos and directed that all matters relating to the family’s landed properties be referred to him.
The family has firmly rejected Ayeni’s claim.
The notice described Ayeni as an aberration, stating that he is not entitled to the Eletu-Odibo chieftaincy stool. The family emphasized that he is neither a blood member nor a relation of the Eletu-Odibo Chieftaincy Family.
The matter is currently before the Lagos State High Court under Suit No. LD/13332GCMW/2025, presided over by Honourable Justice Alakija.
Members of the public were warned to completely disregard Ayeni’s earlier publication. The family cautioned that anyone acting in line with it does so at their own risk.
The Eletu-Odibo Chieftaincy Family stated that it has accredited representatives managing its affairs. All inquiries, especially regarding landed properties, are to be directed to its lawyer.
The family’s legal representatives are A. R. Fatoki & Associates. The notice ended with a firm warning: “Public Beware.”
It was signed by A.R. Fatoki Esq., on behalf of A.R. Fatoki & Associates, solicitors to the Eletu-Odibo Chieftaincy Family of Lagos.
This development is likely to intensify the ongoing legal battle over the prestigious traditional stool, signaling a prolonged courtroom showdown between the parties involved.
