A child’s birthday party in Stockton, California turned into a night of horror after a mass shooting left no fewer than four people dead including three children and 11 others injured.
The suspected shooter is still on the run, prompting authorities to launch a massive manhunt.
According to the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office, the shooting happened around 6 p.m. during a crowded celebration attended by up to 150 people. The victims were aged 8, 9, 14, and 21. Officials said early findings suggest the attack may have been targeted.
Sheriff Patrick Withrow called the incident heartbreaking and urged residents to come forward with any information that could help identify those responsible. “We will find the people who did this and bring them to justice,” he said.

The banquet hall, located in a busy commercial area, had been hosting the birthday party when unknown attackers opened fire and escaped before officers arrived.
Detectives are still working to determine the motive but stressed that it was not a random act.
Authorities noted that they are exploring all possible angles, including whether the shooting was connected to local disputes, but said they will not confirm any link until investigations are complete.
Former U.S. Representative Gabby Giffords, a survivor of gun violence, expressed sympathy to the families affected, calling the tragedy another painful reminder of America’s rising gun violence crisis.
