FG Unveils New Credit Option for Domestic Air Passengers

The Federal Government has introduced a new consumer credit product called “Fly Now, Pay Later” to make domestic air travel easier for Nigerians. The initiative is designed to allow passengers book flights and repay the cost over time.
The programme was announced by the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation as part of efforts to expand access to financial services.
According to the corporation, the scheme will enable eligible customers to book domestic flights immediately and pay for the tickets gradually through structured financing.
Officials explained that the initiative aims to remove the upfront financial barrier that often prevents many Nigerians from travelling when necessary.
The programme is being implemented in partnership with MyVisaro and Alert Microfinance Bank to support responsible consumer credit.
Interested individuals were advised to apply through the Visaro platform, where they can select flights to destinations across Nigeria and arrange repayment plans.
The corporation said the initiative is part of its broader efforts to promote financial inclusion and improve access to services through flexible credit solutions.
It also noted that the programme is intended to help Nigerians meet urgent travel needs without facing immediate financial pressure.
The development comes at a time when domestic air travel costs have continued to rise, making flights difficult for many passengers to afford.
During the 2025 festive period, one-way ticket prices on some local routes reportedly rose sharply, with fares exceeding ₦300,000 due to rising aviation fuel costs, foreign exchange challenges and other operational expenses faced by airlines.
