Federal High Court Stops Commissioner From Declaring Sowore Wanted

By Ranti Thomas
Today a Federal High Court in Lagos, has restrained the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, and other security agencies from arresting, intimidating, or declaring human rights activist and presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, wanted.
The order was issued after Sowore filed a request, following reports that the Lagos State Police Command had supposedly declared him wanted over undisclosed accusations.
Justice Musa Kakaki, in his ruling, granted a temporary order stopping the respondents — especially the Commissioner of Police — from harassing, intimidating, threatening to arrest, or declaring the applicant wanted until the main case is decided.
The court’s order, which was read out to journalists, specifically restrains the police from giving effect to any declaration made by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police on November 3, 2025, portraying Sowore as a wanted person. The order will subsist pending further hearing on the substantive suit challenging the legality of the police declaration.
