FCT Polls Delayed as INEC Officials Reach Durumi I

Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) arrived late at the Durumi I Polling Unit in the Abuja Municipal Area Council during the FCT Area Council election.
Our correspondent reported that the officials did not reach the polling unit until about 11 a.m., even though many voters were already waiting to cast their votes.
Voting began shortly after the arrival of the INEC officials, bringing relief to residents who had been waiting for hours.
The Village Head of Durumi I, Yohanna Ishaku, expressed dissatisfaction over the delay. He said the officials should not set arbitrary times to leave the polling unit.
“I hope the INEC officials will not say that by 2:30 p.m., they will leave here. It is not fair,” he said.
Despite the delay, the voting process has continued smoothly since it started.
The polling agent of the Social Democratic Party, Nkechi Chime, expressed satisfaction with the way voting was conducted so far.
Residents remained patient while waiting, showing commitment to participate in the democratic process despite the setback.
INEC officials were observed coordinating with security personnel to ensure order and safety at the polling unit.
The Durumi I Polling Unit is among several across the FCT where elections are taking place today, marking a key moment in the local council polls.
