Senator Okey Ezea, widely known as Ideke and representing Enugu North Senatorial Zone, has died. He reportedly passed away on Tuesday while undergoing medical treatment in the United Kingdom.
Elder statesman Chief Nkem Ossai confirmed the senator’s death, describing him as a “compassionate leader whose absence will be deeply felt.” The news has left Nsukka and surrounding communities in profound mourning.
Chief Ossai added, “Enugu North has lost a devoted public servant who was committed to the growth and progress of his constituency. His dedication and contributions will not be forgotten.”
Senator Ezea had recovered from a partial stroke just three months ago. He was also the last representative of the Labour Party in the National Assembly from Enugu State, following the defection of other lawmakers to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
