Anthony Joshua Pays Tribute to Late Friends with Emotional Tattoo Gesture

British-Nigerian boxing star Anthony Joshua has paid an emotional tribute to two of his closest friends who died in a tragic car crash in Ogun State by tattooing their names on his arm.
The heavyweight champion recently revealed fresh ink bearing the names “Latz” and “Sina,” permanently etched beneath an outline of the African continent. The tattoo is in honour of Latif ‘Latz’ Ayodele and Sina Ghami, men who were not only his friends but key members of his training circle.
The two men lost their lives in a fatal accident along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State late last year. The vehicle they were travelling in reportedly collided with a stationary truck. Joshua survived the crash and was treated for minor injuries.
The tragedy shook the boxing community, as both Ayodele and Ghami were deeply involved in Joshua’s professional journey. Ghami served as his strength and conditioning coach, while Ayodele worked closely with him as a personal trainer.
In the weeks following the accident, Joshua returned to Nigeria to honour his late friends during their funeral rites. The emotional period marked one of the toughest moments in the boxer’s life, as he publicly mourned men he described as brothers.
The tattoo session took place quietly at a London studio, where the boxer reportedly walked in without prior announcement. Images of the finished tribute later surfaced, drawing sympathy and support from fans around the world.
For Joshua, the body art is more than just ink. It is a lasting reminder of loyalty, brotherhood and shared dreams a way to carry the memories of “Latz” and “Sina” with him both inside and outside the ring.
As he continues his boxing career, those closest to him say the tribute reflects his deep sense of gratitude and the impact his late friends had on his journey to global stardom.
