After 11 Years, Baby Factory Case: Ondo Couple Get 14-Year Jail Term

A socialite couple in Ondo State has been sentenced to 14 years’ imprisonment over their involvement in a baby factory operation, more than 11 years after the case first began.
The pair were convicted following a prosecution by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), which secured the conviction at a Federal High Court in the state.
The couple had been linked to a baby factory — a facility where pregnant women are kept to produce infants for sale — in a case that drew national attention due to its duration and the alleged exploitation involved.
After thorough investigation and trial proceedings, the court found them guilty on charges related to human trafficking and exploitation.
Justice ___ (name withheld in report) handed down a 14-year jail term to each defendant, marking a major victory for law enforcement efforts against trafficking and baby factory operations in Nigeria.
NAPTIP’s successful prosecution follows years of advocacy against child trafficking and exploitation, and the agency has reiterated its commitment to dismantling similar criminal networks across the country.
The conviction underscores ongoing efforts by Nigerian authorities to tackle human trafficking and protect vulnerable victims, even in long-running cases that span over a decade.
