AFCON 2025: Chelle urges focus after win

By Wellington Jopelo
Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle said he was happy with Nigeria’s 4–0 win but warned his players not to lose focus as the tournament continues.
He said the victory was a strong message but reminded everyone that it was only one match and not the final goal.
Nigeria defeated Mozambique on Monday in Fès with an impressive and confident performance to reach the AFCON 2025 quarter-finals.
Victor Osimhen scored two goals in the match, marking his 50th appearance for the national team.
Ademola Lookman and Akor Adams also scored to complete the convincing win for the Super Eagles.
Chelle praised his players for their hard work, energy, and teamwork throughout the game.
Despite the big win, the coach warned against complacency, saying success can be dangerous if players relax too early.
He said the team will travel to Marrakech on Wednesday to begin preparations for the next match.
Nigeria will face either Algeria or DR Congo in the quarter-finals on Saturday.
Chelle added that his job is to keep the team disciplined, ambitious, and fully focused as they aim to go further in the competition.
