Makinde signs ₦892bn 2026 budget Monday

Oyo State is set to officially approve its spending plan for 2026 as Governor Seyi Makinde prepares to give legal backing to the ₦892bn budget on Monday.
The signing will take place at the Governor’s Office in Ibadan, days after lawmakers in the Oyo State House of Assembly concluded deliberations and passed the appropriation bill.
The budget proposal, tagged “Budget of Economic Expansion,” was earlier laid before the Assembly by Makinde on November 24, 2025. The financial plan stands at ₦891,985,074,480.79 and is aimed at boosting economic activity, strengthening productivity and promoting inclusive growth across the state.
According to the governor, the 2026 budget builds on existing economic stability while prioritising development projects that directly impact residents.
The signing ceremony is expected to attract top government officials, including the Deputy Governor, Bayo Lawal; Speaker of the House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin; and the state Chief Judge, Justice Iyabo Yerima.
Also expected are former deputy governors, past and present lawmakers, leaders of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, labour union representatives, traditional rulers, religious leaders and other key stakeholders across the state.
The event will formally usher in the implementation phase of Oyo State’s 2026 fiscal plan.
