Bayelsa Deputy Governor Hospitalised Following Sudden Collapse

By Wolimoh Abdulmateen
Residents of Yenagoa were on edge Thursday after Bayelsa Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, collapsed in his office and was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC). The episode occurred, triggering immediate medical attention.
Witnesses said he was in a critical state when taken into the emergency ward. Hospital insiders later confirmed that he has been stabilised and moved to the Intensive Care Unit. Although no official explanation has been given, some sources believe the incident may be linked to a heart-related problem.
A close associate said the deputy governor’s heavy workload could be taking a toll, noting that he rarely slows down.
Security officers have taken control of the hospital surroundings, and several government officials have visited to show support. Attempts to get comments from his media aide, Doubara Atasi, were unsuccessful, but hospital staff said he is stable and receiving proper care.
