Transfer: Tottenham Accept £12.9million Bid From Spartak Moscow For Davinson Sanchez

Tottenham Football Club of England have accepted a £12.9million bid from Spartak Moscow for Davinson Sanchez, talkSPORT reports.

Sanchez is mulling over whether to join the Russian club, which would end a six-year stay in north London after his most difficult season yet.

Signed from Ajax in 2017 for a fee rising to £42m, much was expected from the centre back considering the success Spurs had with his Amsterdam predecessors Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld.

A Champions League finalist in 2019, Sanchez experienced what was likely his toughest day in a Spurs shirt last season when he was booed off the pitch during a 3-2 defeat to Bournemouth in April.

Brought on in the 35th minute, he was then replaced just before the hour mark for his role in the Cherries goals, and received a brutal response from the crowd.

Spurs captain Hugo Lloris said post-match: “I feel really bad for him. I’ve never seen this in my career. It started when he came on the pitch.

“He’s been fighting for Spurs for many many years now. The story is sad for the club, fans and the player.”

Sanchez’s current deal with the club expires in 2024, meaning this will likely be the last chance for Spurs to recoup a fee for his services.

So far this summer new manager Ange Postecoglou has brought in James Maddison from Leicester for £40m, and Guglielmo Vicario from Empoli as a new goalkeeping option.

On the departure side, Harry Winks has joined Leicester for £10m, while Lucas Moura has left at the end of his contract.
