The Spanish Football Federation will holds an emergency meeting today, Monday, 28 August 2023 to decide the faith of its president, Luis Rubiales, over forced kissed on the Women’s World Cup winner national team football winner, Jenni Hermoso during presentation of medals.
Theroyaltimes.com recalls that Rubiales was suspended by the world football ruling body, Fifa for kissing Hermoso, on the lips in an act the footballer says she did not consent to.
Few days after, the world football ruling body, Fifa banned Rubiales from all football-related activity for 90 days over his conduct and has launched an investigation into his behaviour.
Also following Rubiales his refusal to resign as Spanish FA boss, the Spanish women’s national team signed a letter stating their intent not to play for the country until Rubiales is removed from his role and the coaching staff – excepting manager Jorge Vilda – has all walked out.
And in new developments seen by observers as bizarre, the Spanish FA on Monday, 28 August, 2023 requested that UEFA excludes their national and club teams from all European competitions because of Spanish government intervention in the crisis. It is a request which Uefa has denied.
Another new twist to the development occurred on the morning of Monday, 28 August, 2023 as Rubiales mother, Angeles Bejar, locked herself in a Divina Pastora de Motril Church in Granada, Spain and vowed that she is going on a hunger strike in order to end the “inhumane witch-hunt” on her son.
