Latest On Ogun Gas Explosion: Government Orders Closure Of Steel Company After Seven Injured

The Ogun State Government has ordered immediately closure of a steel company in Ogijo area of Sagamu Local Government Area of the state after seven people were severely injured on the evening of Sunday, 10 March, 2024 in a gas explosion.

It was gathered that the entire line of production of the company was affected by the explosion.

The cause of the ugly incident is yet to be determined  as of the time of filing this report.

However, the State Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Ola Oresanya, vowed to get to the root-cause of the accident.

Oresanya, who paid an on-the-spot assessment visit to the scene of the incident, also ordered the immediate closure of the iron rod manufacturing company.

Speaking during his visit to the scene of the accident, the Environment Commissioner stated that,”Under the rule of engagement with all the industries in the state, we will carry out a thorough investigation on the remote and immediate causes of the explosion with a view of preventing future occurrence.

“The investigation will spell out in clear terms the condition under which the company can operate so that its workers can be adequately protected as well as property of its immediate communities which were affected by the gas explosion.”

The management of the company has taken all injured victims to a nearby hospital at Ikorodu, Lagos State.
