IGP Appoints New CP For Rivers, Other States; Charges Them To Demonstrate Professional Competence

As part of measures towards strengthening security, tackling violent crimes, and enhancing optimal coordination of police operations across Nigeria, the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun has appointed eight police officers to lead different commands.

 Egbetokun appointed Mr Olatunji Disu as the new Commissioner of Police for Rivers State.

The new appointments were contained in a signal already dispatched and to police formations across the country.

It said the redeployment of the senior police officers is with immediate effect.

In the signal, the police boss charged the new CPs to demonstrate professional competence in their new offices they have been assigned to lead across the country.

Disu’s new appointment comes barely seven months after he was promoted alongside thirty-two others from the rank of deputy commissioner of police to commissioner of police and was subsequently appointed by the IGP as his principal staff, leading and coordinating the security team attached to the IGP’s office and others.

Prior to this time, Disu was the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Operations, Force Headquarters, Abuja, and previously served at the State Criminal Investigation Department for Rivers Command as the Deputy Head of the Unit.
