Founder of Niger Delta People’s Volunteer Force, Mujaheed Dokubo Asari is causing a stir on social media with a viral video showing him on the streets of Buguma kingdom in Rivers State with a retinue of heavily armed gunmen.
It was an almost unbelievable sight as Asari, decked out in full chieftaincy regalia with staff in hand strolled casually to what appeared to be the town hall to attend a social event.
It was all eerily quiet as the outspoken ex-militant leader, now more of a political figure, made his way guarded by about one hundred men clad in military like outfits and armed with heavy machine guns, AK47 assault rifles and even anti-tank bazookas.
Some other chiefs were seen with forced smiles and they greeted him.
At a point his entourage came across a military detachment with an armoured personnel carrier and some troops who pretended that nothing was amiss.
The exact date the video was shot remains unknown but it appears recent and is trending on social media platforms.
