Nigerian Equities Market maintained positive posture as market sentiment remained green at the close of trading Monday.
The NGX All-Share index inched up by +0.34% to close at 53,086.46 basis points as against +0.18% gain recorded at the end of the previous trading session. In Naira terms, the NGX Market CAP records N96.08billion gain.
At the end of the first weekday of trading on, a total of 755,623,987 shares in 4,297 deals, corresponding to a market value of NGN 8,902,426,878.08, were traded. Compared with the previous NGX trading day (Friday, June 3), today’s data shows 167% improvement in volume, 164% improvement in turnover, and 1% improvement in deals. The current market capitalization of the Nigerian Stock Exchange is NGN 28.6 trillion.
In the aggregate, 113 NGX listed equities participated in trading, ending with 19 gainers and 15 losers. Conoil led the gainers with 9.97% share price appreciation closing at NGN 32.00 per share, followed by Pharma-Deko (+9.38%), Learn Africa (+8.72%) and FTN Cocoa Processors (+5.88%).
On the losing side, Trans-Nationwide Express came out last with an end-of-day price depreciation of 6.41% at NGN 0.73 per share, followed by Ecobank Transnational (-6.4%), Japaul Gold and Ventures (-6.25%) and Associated Bus Company (-6.06%). FBN Holdings recorded the highest volume of 610 million traded shares, followed by Flour Mills Nigeria (23m), Wapic Insurance (21.6m) and Transcorp Nigeria (11.6m).
Regarding the performance of NGX market indices, the benchmark NGX All-Share Index (ASI) climbed 178.22 (0.34%) points to close at 53,086.46, representing a 1-week loss of 1.28%, a 4-week gain of 2.28%, and an overall year-to-date gain of 24.28%.
Other remarkable indices that performed were the NGX Top 30 Index (+0.39%; -1.81% 1WK; +12.06% YTD), NGX Top 50 Index (-1.82%; -3.58% 1WK; +8.39% YTD), NGX Premium Index (+0.83%; +0.33% 1WK; +20.16% YTD), NGX Oil & Gas Index (+0.68%; +0.16% 1WK; +60.21% YTD), NGX Pension Index (+0.49%; -1.17% 1WK; +15.14% YTD), and NGX Industrial Index (+0.05%; -3.57% 1WK; +9.28% YTD).
