The small private airplane flew into restricted airspace near President Joe Biden’s beach house on Saturday, prompting the U.S. Secret Service to evacuate the president and First Lady Jill Biden.
Spokesperson for the U.S. Secret Service, Anthony Guglielmi, said in a statement that the privately owned aircraft mistakenly entered the secured area and was “immediately” escorted out of the restricted airspace.
The pilot mistakenly flew over the temporarily restricted airspace, according to the Secret Service.
Authorities said the pilot was likely on an incorrect radio channel and unaware of the restricted area, which extends 30 miles around the Bidens’ home.
