A group, Like Minds 4A New Nigeria, has declared support for Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi in the 2023 elections.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after donating a building to Labour Party in Issele-Azagba, Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State on Sunday, Kingsley Odum, the co-founder of the group, explained that their support was based on a common belief that Peter Obi is the most capable candidate that can bring about such a positive change based on his track record.
According to Odum, Like Minds 4A New Nigeria, which is a frontline support group of Peter Obi with membership across 6 geopolitical zones of the country, Africa and the diaspora was formed in pursuit of positive change, good governance and sustainable development.
He disclosed that he donated his building to serve as a secretariat for Labour Party, to show his support and demonstrate his confidence in the former Anambra State governor’s capacity and competence to entrench good governance in Nigeria.
On his part, Gabriel Nzewi, a co-founder of the group, said himself and other coordinators across the six geopolitical zones, wards, local government areas and electoral wards have started mobilising Nigerians at home to get their PVC ready, vote and defend their votes during the election.
In urging Nigerians to strongly support and vote for Peter Obi in the forthcoming presidential election, Nzewi, said Peter Obi, a consummate businessman and a trusted political administrator, is the change the country has long been yearning for.
He urged Nigerians to partake in the ongoing Continuous Voters’ Registration (CVR) exercise to enable them change the narrative of bad governance in the country.
Zainab Darlington, a member of the group also noted that an Obi’s presidency will not only heal the wounds of bad governance, but will lay the foundation for a New Nigeria.
In her words “We have all complained about the failure of the Nigerian government to deliver good governance to its people, we need to go beyond complaining to taking action in the direction of our hopes.”
In a remark, Delta State chairman of Labour Party, Tony Ezeagwu, commended the group for their donation and urged them to remain committed to the project, even as he advised them to help strengthen the party at their various localities.
Ezeagwu expressed optimism that the Labour Party’s presidential candidate would become the next President of Nigeria because Peter Obi is the only one among the four leading presidential candidates that is best suited to bring Nigeria out of her numerous present challenges.
The event was attended by Delta State chairman of Labour Party, Tony Ezeagwu, Labour Party candidate for Ndokwa/Ukwuani federal constituency, Gift Okwuolise, Coordinator of Peter Obi Movement (POM) in Aniocha North, Edward Adimabua Uzoka among others.
